About the Georgie Badiel Foundation

The proceeds from the Pennsylvania Model of the Year 2018 competition will benefit the Georgie Badiel Foundation, which focuses on providing access to clean water and sanitation to the people of Burkina Faso, Africa, and developing solutions for future generations. This organization has built 5 wells, provided 10 toilets, restored 20 wells, and trained 50 women to maintain them. This organization has educated over 600 students on hygiene and planted over 1,050 trees for fruit, shade, and to halt desertification.

The Georgie Badiel Foundation believes that all human beings have a fundamental right to available clean drinking water, sanitation facilities and education. This foundation is committed to building, restoring and maintaining wells, as well as providing sanitation facilities in Burkina Faso and our neighboring Sub-Saharan African countries. By doing so, we enable millions of women and children to get an education and contribute to their communities versus spending the majority of their time traveling long-distances to fetch water.
